PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy II Philadelphos, 285-246 BC. Trichryson or Pentadrachm (Gold, 22 mm, 17.85 g, 12 h), uncertain mint 21. Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis around his neck. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ Eagle, with closed wings, standing left on thunderbolt; to left, Φ above A. Lorber 496. Svoronos 370. A lovely example with beautiful reddish toning. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die and with a very minor edge bump, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
